2020 Calendar of Events

Membership DriveMembership Drive: Saturday, May 23 from 8:00-10:30 am at the Green Lake Calvary Church Youth Center (old sanctuary). Coffee, juice and yummy donuts provided. Come and join the Association for $75, receive the 2019 a-Round Green Lake Association directory and meet old and new friends.

Boating Safefy ClassBoating Safety Class: Saturday, May 30 from 8:00 am-3:00 pm at the Green Lake Calvary Church gym.
Due to the impact of COVID-19, this event has been canceled.
Bring a pencil, drink and sack lunch–a snack will be provided by the Association. The course is free and no advanced registration is required. Those already or who will be turning age 12 this summer are encouraged to attend along with adults.

Fishing Tournament: Saturday, June 13 from 8 am – noon. This weekend no fishing permit is needed from MDNR.  Family event with prizes for kids 8 & under; 9-15 and adults. Entry Fee: $5/person or $15/boat. Questions? Call Tim Speyer at 616-813-0528

Boat Parade:  Friday, July 3 at 7:30 pm meet in the big lake by the Reus beach where fireworks are shot from (NW corner).  Decorate your boat patriotically (prize for best decorated) and cruise around the entire lake before the fireworks.

FireworksFireworks: Friday, July 3 at dark shot off from the Reus beach in the big lake (NW corner). If observing by boat, please stay at least 500′ off shore to allow for a fireworks safety zone.

Pancake Breakfast - the 4thPancake Breakfast: Saturday, July 4 from 8 – 10:30 AM at the GREEN LAKE CALVARY CHURCH GYM (NOTE: new location) is cancelled due to health department restrictions surrounding Covid19, as is the Labor Day, Sept 7 rescheduled date.

Land ParadeLand Parade: Saturday, July 4 at Noon. Please note: due to Covid19, please practice 6’ social distancing; there will be NO walkers permitted in the parade and no flyers, pencils, frisbees etc., may be handed out. Individually wrapped candy is permitted provided the person dispersing the candy is wearing gloves. Line up begins at 11:30 in the West parking lot of Green Lake Calvary church. The parade will proceed East down 145th Ave (Kalamazoo Ave), to South Shore Dr., then to Round Lake Dr., and back to Kalamazoo Ave ending at the Fire Department building which will have an Open House after the parade with activities, demonstrations, etc.

5k Run-Walka-Round Green Lake Charity 5k Run, Walk, and Kids’ Fun Run: Saturday, August 1, 8:00 AM starting at Leighton Fire Station #2 (former Township Hall). This year is a virtual run, due to Covid19 restrictions… Please read more info on this event, which will be held between Aug 3-15.

Proceeds go towards supporting the Green Lake/Caledonia community.  Register online herePlease register ASAP so we get the right number of shirts and food. T-Shirt sizing guaranteed only for those registered before July 20st.  Registration is $20 before July 20rd and $25 for registration July 21st – August 2nd online and at scheduled packet pickup times; always $10 for the kids’ run (kids 10 and under).  Registration is now only online so click “here” above.

Ice Cream SocialIce Cream Social & Association Annual Meeting: Thursday, August 13 from 7:00 – 9:00 PM at the Green Lake Calvary Church Youth Center. Come and enjoy great ice cream sundaes with your neighbors and hear what is up with the Association etc.

Green Lake Rocks: Saturday, August 15 from 4:30 – 9pm. Drop 35, a local cover band, will play songs from the 60s through todays hits.  Anchor your boat along East Shore, in front of Paul & Brooke Richard’s home (4521 East Shore) which is near the SE corner of the big lake and ENJOY!  Bring snacks and stay as long as you can.  Fun give a ways!  Sponsored by Action Water Sports.

15-lights-thumbChristmas a-Round the Lake:  Sunday, December DATE TO BE DETERMINED 6:30 – 9 PM.  The home locations that will be open to tour will only be announced via the Association’s email list in early December so join the Association so you’re in the loop for this very fun evening!   A great way to meet new friends and say hi to old friends all while touring some lake homes at this festive time of the year.
